Loading the fuel of the future

31st January, 2007

Today, over 180,000 vehicles use biodiesel. With a distribution of 1.5 million tonnes in 2005, it is arguably the most important and marketable biofuel. For loading fuel, equipment must conform perfectly to the physical requirements of biodiesel manufacturers. Safety is a main issue, along with efficiency, dependability, and unsurpassed quality. In 2006, Emco Wheaton delivered 10 installations for the manufacture of biodiesel with loading arms and folding access stairs for vehicle inspection and filling.

Biodiesel is manufactured from renewable raw materials and significantly lowers carbon particle emissions. In the burning process, biodiesel emits as much carbon dioxide as plants absorb while maturing. The most used raw material in Europe is rapeseed (also known as canola) oil, which has been extracted from the seeds of the plant through an oil press.
