Cargill completes wheat processing expansion in Poland
2nd May, 2008
The ethanol line expansion will increase existing production and allow room for further expansion in the future
The expansion represents a total investment of $35 million (€22 million).
The expansion, the first since the plant was built in 1996, allows Cargill to grind wheat on-site, which will then be used to produce sweeteners such as glucose and fructose, as well as vital wheat gluten for the food and animal feed industry. The ethanol line expansion will increase existing production, while allowing room for further expansion in the future.
'These investments allow us to further meet growing customer demands across a number of sectors including food, animal feed and biofuels across central and eastern Europe,' Frank Van Lierde, head of Cargill's sweeteners business in Europe, says. 'The vast majority of the wheat processed here will be locally sourced, so the investment represents great news for local farmers.'
