2nd May, 2008
The powerboat is run on 100% biodiesel
Earthrace is a 78ft wave-piercing trimaran with a net zero carbon footprint.
The £1.5 million (€1.92 million) boat set off from the port of Sagunto, Spain, before crossing the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans at a maximum speed of 40 knots for 40 days.
'There have been five world record attempts, including our own first attempt last year, since the current record was set in 1998 and we'll do everything we can to mark this tenth anniversary by beating it,' captain Pete Bethune says.
