Royal Nedalco to speak at Biofuels International expo and conference

9th May, 2008

Royal Nedalco, a subsidiary of Dutch sugar producer Cosun, and a leading ethanol producer, is the latest speaker announced for Biofuels International expo and conference on 4-5 June in Rotterdam.

The producer will be speaking about its current projects, particularly its cellulosic ethanol technology, which is based on yeast, rather than bacteria.

Royal Nedalco is planning to build a cellulosic ethanol plant in the Dutch town of Sas van Gent with a capacity of 200 million litres, or about 2.5% of the European market for ethanol.

The company is skipping the pilot plant phase and moving straight into building a full scale production plant, because it is so confident with its technology.

Last year Royal Nedalco partnered with US-based Mascoma Corporation. The objective of the technology partnership is to license Nedalco’s yeast-based technology for use in Mascoma’s recently announced demonstration plant and for use in future Mascoma commercial plants, and to explore collaborative research efforts to accelerate production of second generation bioethanol.

Royal Nedalco joins speakers including Saab, Biofuels Corporation, the Port of Rotterdam, Neste Oil, Petrotec, ST1 Biofuels, Odjfell Terminals, eBIO, Green Biologics and Bio-ethanol Rotterdam at Biofuels International expo and conference – one of Europe’s most valuable and informative biofuels events.
